Tri Fold Album Box

Hi Guys

No picture post today this is just a quick one to let you know that I have posted a youtube video tutorial on my blog for the Tri Fold Album Box.  The measurements are in the information box.

Its half term this week so I need to get organised if I want to get any crafting done as my children have a funny way of taking up all of my time without me even realising it ;o)

Have a great Tuesday

Second attempt for LIM challenge

Hi Guys

Well it doesn't get much simpler than this....or so you would think.  This is my 3rd attempt at this card and I still didn't really get what I was looking for :(  I had an idea/picture in my head but it never really translated.  I'm sure this happens to everyone but it is soo frustrating.

I've stamped the image using Sahara Sand then restamped slightly to the right in Basic Black, I wanted to give the illusion of depth but in previous attempts the card ended up looking too busy in the one little square so instead of several lighter stamps and the one in Black I just have one of each.  It definately needed something so I used my marker pen to colour the "for you" part of a stamp from the Level 1 hostess set "Afterthoughts".

To make this card: (all products are Stampin Up unless stated otherwise)
Card - Whisper White
Ink - Sahara Sand, Basic Black
Stamps - Just Believe, Afterthoughts

Baby Tri-Fold Album & Box

Hi Stampers

I have been very busy & I have a gorgeous post today to show you.  I've made a tri fold album AND I've made a box to go with it.  The tri fold album is the longer one that folds out and since we did one at Quarterly Training with Michelle Last I have loved them although I've not gotten around to finishing one yet....until today, yay.

When the album was finished I knew I wanted to make a box to put it in.  As its a baby gift it would just be the finishing touch!  I have seen some on other blogs but no measurements to go with them so I set about sorting the measurements and making my box - here is the end result.  Love it!

I've used Very Vanilla satin ribbon as it feels luxurious, love the satin ribbons!

A close up of the name.

The box with the lid off - am so pleased with how this turned out.

The album out of the box.  Lots more ribbon - love it!

Lots of little embellishments.

The full inside.

A little close up of the words inside, aw.

To make this card: (all products Stampin Up unless stated otherwise)
Card - Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Very Vanilla
Stamps - Baby Tee's Jumbo Roller, Out of the Box, Fox & Friends
Ink - Bashful Blue, So Saffron
Embellishments - Pearls, Diamante, Designer Buttons Subtles, DSP Bashful Blue, Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon
Tools - Scallop Trim Corner, Scallop Trim Border

I am going to do a youtube video tutorial for the tri shutter box so will pop a link on here soon.  This fits the Papertake Weekly Challenge as well ;o)

Hope you like it

Wedding Card

Hi Stampers

Have just done a wedding card for a friend of mine.  She wanted the card to sort of match the original invitation she had received.  The colours were red and white and so I fell back on the trusty bride and groom hearts that I first saw on Julies Japes quite a while ago.  She seemed quite happy with it so it seems to have fulfilled the requirement ;o)

The DS Bridal paper is always perfect for wedding cards. The "bride" heart has been embossed using the

The names of the bride and groom and the wedding date is always a nice touch I think.

This was the wedding invitation the inspiration had to come from.

To make this card:
Card - Whisper White, Real Red
Embellishments - DS paper Bridesmaid, Pearls
Tools - Heart Punch, Sizzix Big Shot, Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder

Thank you...and you!

Hi Stampers

I am soo excited about this card I've just done - I love it!  I found this technique for leaving a non embossed middle panel in your cards at Caroline Skinners blog, stampinupandbranchingout.blogspot.com.  I am always amazing and touched at how generous stampers (crafty people in general) are with their ideas & how happy they are to share them.  Thank You Caroline ;o)

This is the card I've done although I did have to cut the template twice as I don't have a steady hand at all and my lines kept being a little off (even using a rules would you believe it)!

Was a bit annoyed that my non embossed square is a little off centre but I doubt the recipient would notice (hoping she doesn't)

I've used the rock and roll technique for the butterfly, I first saw that at Michelle Lasts Quarterly training and loved it although I don't always get it right ;o)

And a little bitty sentiment from a set I've been trying to get a hold of for ages!

To make this card: (All products are Stampin Up unless stated otherwise)
Card - Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Ink - Pretty In Pink, Crumb Cake, Rose Red
Stamps - Strength & Hope, Happy Moments
Tools - Big Shot, Square Lattice Embossing Folder

Am going to submit this one into A Spoon Full Of Sugar challenge - Things With Wings

Hope you like it.

Big Shot Tryouts!

 Hey Guys

I've been spending some time with my Big Shot just trying out different things, lots of the time I put the card into my scrap box as I don't have a use for it right at that moment but I did make this card because I just couldn't bear to pop this into the box.  This is Vellum cardstock run through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice embossing folder which completely changes the texture of the card - its lovely - I couldn't stop stroking it.

I laid the Vellum ontop of some Pretty in Pink cardstock then layered onto black card with a ribbon and a tiny sentiment.  It did look a little bare but I could hardly bear to cover it so I used the bird from the Two Step Bird punch and could almost handle that.  I'm not sure it translates especially well in the photograph but its lovely.

To make this card: (All products used are Stampin Up unless stated otherwise)
Card - Basic Black, Pretty In Pink, Whisper White
Stamps - Punch Potpourri, Afterthoughts (L1 Hostess set)
Ink - Basic Black
Tools - Sizzix Big Shot, Square Lattice Embossing Folder
Embellishments - Pretty In Pink Grosgrain Ribbon

Party Party Party!

Hi Guys

It is the loveliest morning and I am sitting with a cup of coffee & updating my blog AND I have a couple of hours set aside this morning for crafting as I have been asked to do a couple of cards for friends and I also need to do some for me, does life get any better? Probably not ;o)

This one I did quickly for a childs birthday.  I popped it together during the Wednesday card class and because the girls were embossing I did the same.  I have stamped the balloons in Versamark then Inked them up and used clear embossing powder.  This means the ink matches the cardstock exactly which is always great.

The owl punch is perfect here as a party goer looking for directions - I love it!

A close up of the balloons.

To make this card:
Card - Whisper White, Real Red, Tempting Turquoise
Ink - Versamark, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, Basic Black
Tools - Heat Tool, Embossing Powder (Clear), Owl Punch
Embellishments - Twine

Hope you like it

Less Is More Challenge - Week 16 - Butterflies

Good Morning!

Its Saturday and that means a new challenge from the lovely ladies at Less Is More, this week it's butterflies.  To be honest I'm not a huge insecty, birdy, butterfly person but with the LIM challenge I know its got to be, well less, than more ;o)

Here is my offering.  It doesn't translate quite as well by photograph as I'd hoped but have done a couple of close ups to help you see the effect better.  I needed the white underneath to make the butterfly stand out.  I like the way the acetate with the black in gives a sort of ethereal look to the butterfly.  The intricate design of the SU stamp is perfect here.

To make this card:
(All SU supplies unless stated otherwise)
Card - Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink - Black Staz On, White Craft
Embellishments - Acetate sheet
Tools - Extra Large Oval Punch

Hope you like it.

The next card in class

The next card we made was the same technique, heat embossing.  Again we used versamark and embossed the sentiment with Black embossing powder.  The ribbon and cardstock are Pumpkin Pie, the other cardstock used is Basic Black & Whisper White.

It is actually quite difficult to make out the embossing but you can see the & is much darker than when you stamp it normally.

The last card we did was this one, pink with the same sentiment.  The main focus of this card is the vellum embossed flowers.  This idea was cased from Julies Japes blogspot & the girls made lots and lots of gorgeous flowers all different shades and designs and I'm annoyed that I didn't take pictures as they were so lovely!

Once the flower outlines are embossed they are coloured on the back of the vellum with Marker pens then glitter is added with some glue for the final sparkle.  I love them!

Wednesday Craft Class

Hey Guys

Last night was my fortnightly craft class and the theme of the evening was embossing.  I was hoping that by the end of the evening even the ladies who had never done any heat embossing would be au fait with it - and by jove they were!  Everyone got down to it with gusto and some of the results were just stunning.

This was the first card & the motorbike image was stamped first in Versamark then black embossing powder was used.  Blender pens & twine finished it off.  The idea for this card was I think Vicky's blog but cant be sure, eek.  Card colours are Old Olive, Basic Black & Whisper White.  Blender pens were Old Olive & Creamy Caramel.

Make A Monster!

Hi Guys

I cant believe its Tuesday night already, not quite sure where the last two days have gone but at least I'm getting to update my blog having gotten a little behind with myself.  Have just finished making the card packs for my class tomorrow which is normally a great laugh so am looking forward to that.

This card was one for a little girl in Conals class but I wasn't sure beforehand whether she was turning 5 or 6 so thought I'd better leave it rather than get it wrong.  This little girl isn't especially girly so thought this fitted the bill quite well.  I saw Julie Kettlewell do this with the little monsters, punch them with a circle then layer on top of the large oval and thought it looked excellent - thanks Julie!

To make this card:
Card - Whisper White, Night of Navy, Real Red
Stamps - Party This Way, Make A Monster
Papers - DSP
Ink - Night of Navy marker, Real Red Marker, Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise
Tools - 1 3/4 circle punch, Extra Large Oval punch

Less Is More Challenge - Embossing - Week 15

Hey Guys

This card is an entry for the LIM challenge and it was very quick to do but quite effective I think.  I've used masking technique to only stamp part of the stamp then embossed it in black.  Using the sponges I've coloured around the trees but still within the masked area creating the illusion of a square.  I've finished with a little sentiment on the bottom.

To make the card:

Card - Whisper White
Stamps - Lovely As A Tree, Happy Moments
Tools - Heat Gun, Embossing Powder (Black), Post Its, Sponge Daubers
Inks - More Mustard, Not Quite Navy

Post it note holders

Hey Guys

Pretty stressful yesterday as no blogspot available and it also looked like I'd lost my most recent post.  Turns out they were working on it and I didn't lose my post.  I did however lose all my comments which is a shame.  At least we are all systems go today ;o)

Was outside selling raffle tickets for the pta today for the May Fair, when I left the house it was sunny and lovely but the minute I got outside (with no jacket) it clouded over and got pretty cold so I ended up chilled for an hour not ideal as already have a sore throat and have a gig tonight too, oh dear!

Alrighty these cute little post it note holders are super easy but excellent as a little gift.  I've used Elegant Soiree DSP to cover 2 beer mats, a piece of matching card stock inside and decorated the front using various punches and a letter from the Broadsheet Alphabet.

St Lukes Charity Cards Challenge - Patterns May 2011

Good Morning!

And what a lovely morning it is!  Looking out the window I am greeted with blue sky all around, the birds are singing and I am aware that sounds a little like a scene from Snow White but its just lovely.  Okay so have my coffee beside me, its very strong which has probably aided my ability to post so early in the morning.

The challenge was for patterns of which I have used several however they are all from the Springtime Vintage papers from the SU mini catalogue and they coordinate beautifully!

This card was very simple but I quite like it.  Will pop it off to St Lukes after submitting it to the challenge with another 4 cards that I have doubles of ;o)  Brillaint cause and fantastic idea.  Crafters are some of the most generous people I have met both with their ideas and their creations.

To make this card you need

Card - Baja Breeze, River Rock
Tools - Scallop Edge Punch, Large Flower Punch, 1/4 circle punch
Embellishments - DS Paper Springtime Vintage, Subtles Brad
Stamps - Happy Moments

Less Is More Challenge

Hey Guys

Here is my 2nd effort for the White on White Challenge from LIM ladies, this was created using a Stampin Up
embossing folder which I then added rhinesones to accentuate different parts of it.  The sentiment was stamped using white craft ink onto vellum which is hard to make out but I think you can get the overall effect.

Hope the girlies at LIM like it ;o)

Week 14 - White on White, Less Is More Challenge

Hey Guys

Yes that was a long title ;o)  This card was actually really difficult to do as normally I'd never dream of sticking to one colour.  Was a bit worried that things weren't standing out but the picture almost gets it all.   The wonderful thing about these challenges is that they pull you out of your comfort zone, think I need a biscuit ;o)

I've used the Flower, Daisies #2 die with my Sizzix Big shot and the leaves are from the Bird punch.

I embossed the word love hoping it would stand out a little more than an inked sentiment.

Here it is from a different angle but the sentiment if difficult to see.

The flower and leaves have been lightly sponged with Grey ink.

Hope you like it.

Another one for the LIM challenge

Hey Guys

Here is another one that I will pop into the Less Is More challenge, needed to do it today as it closes tonight.  Another very simple card.  Large flowers from Just Believe set stamped in Certainly Celery and the sentiment from Sincere Salutations stamped in Night of Navy.  A nice combination of colours.  Have added a couple of rhinestones to the leaves for a little bit extra.

Less Is More (LIM) challenge

Hey Guys

I put this card together with the Less Is More challenge in mind.  I thought about the one I did with my class and thought it would be an ideal format for the LIM.  I have made it a baby card with just a simple babysuit and the congratulations sentiment.  Have used the crimper a little bit at the bottom to add a little dimension but there is lots of clean empty space here.

The image is from A Slice of Life, Level 1 hostess set.

Hope you like it.

Fathers Day

Hi Guys

This one is a fathers day card, I cant remember when it is but I think its June sometime, I guess the shops will let me know soon enough ;o)  I quite like these colours for a male card and it is very simple to do.

The flag piece with the sentiment has been run through the crimper several times to break down the fibres so it looks at like its flowing in the wind.  The background items are stamped in Crumb Cake to add extra depth.

A close up of the sentiment.

A side view.

To make this card you need:

Card - Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake
Stamp - Plane & Simple
Embellishments - Dimensions, copper brad
Tools - Sponge Dauber
Ink - Crumb Cake, Early Espresso
